We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
This past month, all of us at BroadFutures have been focused on our gratitude for the incredible community that supports our work.
And... what we have been up to.....
Over the past month, we have been busy getting ready for our 2023 Programs. We have been vetting lots of applications and meeting so many interesting young people in the process. We have also been meeting with our loyal employer partners and some new employers who are excited to partner with us in 2023. We also had a wonderful time with our BroadFutures alumni at our speed-friending event. Keep an eye out as our newly formed BroadFutures Alumni Committee has plenty more activities that we will announce in the coming weeks!!
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday!
Join the movement and give back this Giving Tuesday - one of the biggest giving days of the year! Help us empower young neurodiverse people and be a part of something life changing!!! Here are just some examples of how your gift can make a difference:
This month’s spotlight is Jack Jones, a Summer 2022 participant and Fall Gala Speaker. He is a recent graduate of Beacon College and participated in both the BroadFutures Strengths program during the summer of 2021 as well as the Internship Program this past summer. This Summer, Jack worked for Concord Hospitality at the Hyatt and Canopy hotels here at the Wharf. When looking back on his time at BroadFutures, Jack noted that “I am grateful to BroadFutures because they helped me explore opportunities I may not have had otherwise. Before doing the summer program I didn’t realize I liked hospitality work. But now, hospitality is an industry I am considering working in for the future. Furthermore, the social events that BroadFutures held gave me a chance to meet new people and expand my network.”
Congratulations Jack! We cannot wait to hear about your successes!
Employer Spotlight
Southwest Business Improvement District
This month we would like to spotlight Southwest Business Improvement District-SWBID. SWBID seeks to innovate and catalyze action in Southwest D.C. by unlocking the potential of people and places.
When asked to reflect on their partnership with BroadFutures, Chief Operating Officer Andre Witt shared that “We at SWBID have truly enjoyed our relationship with Broad Futures, we have been enlightened by the hard working men and women of the program. The workers have fit in very well with our family oriented company and they have each gained valuable professional experience working in numerous areas of public space management. We truly value this relationship and would love to continue the relationship for many years to come.”
We look forward to a continued partnership with SWBID. Learn more about SWBID here.
