We are thrilled to announce that BroadFutures has received a $5,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation for our financial literacy curriculum. With this grant, we look to educate and empower the young people we serve to become more financially aware, informed and ultimately stable. The financial literacy component of our training is delivered during the initial week of intensive career readiness training that precedes the internship portion of our program. We employ an interactive approach to all of our curriculum, including our financial literacy. We do not simply lecture at our students, but involve them in interactive as well as peer to peer learning. Thank you TD Charitable Foundation!

Small nonprofits like ours make a big difference for the communities who live here. We are thrilled to have Spur Local, formerly the Catalogue for Philanthropy, support our work! Being part of their 2023 class, alongside our incredible peer nonprofits, shows both the critical impact we make as an organization and our collective strength as a movement for social good. |
Employer Spotlight Congressman Trone’s Office |
This month our employer spotlight is Congressman David Trone’s Office. Congressman David Trone has served as the congressman of Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District since the beginning of 2019. Congressman Trone pledged to help support people with disabilities by fighting to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and has been involved with the Madison House Autism Foundation, an organization that provides opportunities for adults with autism. At our 2019 Lighting the Way Fall Gala, we awarded Congressman Trone with the Champion Award for his inspired and innovative commitment to an inclusive workforce and championing the talents of individuals with disabilities.
When asked about the office’s partnership with BroadFutures, staff assistant Alex Dumm shared that “working with BroadFutures has been very rewarding. BroadFutures actively communicates with the workplace host and works alongside the intern to ensure the best possible experience. Every person deserves the pride that comes from meaningful work. We are proud to partner with BroadFutures to celebrate neurodiversity and help young neurodivergent individuals develop their workplace skills and enter the workforce.”
